How to Organize Your File Cabinet
Mar 26th 2018
Most office workers use their computers to store the files that are important for their work, but even so, most offices still have filing cabinets where the company keeps archived files or documents that must be stored in printed form. Like any other area in the office, file cabinets can also become messy if they are neglected and a messy cabinet makes it very difficult to get files out, so here are a few ideas that can help you organize your document storage space:
- -Assess the contents – make sure that the cabinet is used for the storage of files that belong there. Remove files that are too old, files that are no longer needed or documents that belong somewhere else and either move them to their right location or shred them.
- -Create a system and use it – organize the files alphabetically or by the name of the client the file is for, the important thing is to stick to the system whenever you put files in or take files out.
- -Make a list – an inventory list that tells you exactly which drawer to open when you need a specific file will make it easier to use the cabinet and not only for you, but also for other team members who don’t use the cabinet on a daily basis.
